What is HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. It is an application protocol for transfer and manage the links between one hypertext document and another on the web. HTTP protocol is same as FTP. While surfing net we open a lot of web page and other hypertext file containing text, images, animation, graphics, audios, videos etc. To share hypertext file, HTTP is used. It represents the beginning of the URL like “https://“. HTTP is managed as standard developed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). HTTP is used port 80 to connect to the Web Server for data transmission.

What is HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)

There is two version of HTTP protocol is used.
i) HTTP (http://)
ii)HTTPS (https://)

i) HTTP (http://)
HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) is a normal type of protocol. It uses a general type of TCP/IP protocol model for transferring a Hypertext file from one to another system with the help of Browser. Every simple website or blog uses the same type of protocol because it’s free. HTTP is not enough to secure and protect your server which transfers data between Clint and Host.

ii) HTTPS (https://)
HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) is a secure version of this protocol. They use the “code” on a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), sometimes called Transport Layer Security (TLS) to send the information back and forth. HTTPS is port 443 for communication. It sends and receive data in encrypted form between client and host server to protect the data information from the hacker. For HTTPS, SSL certificate is required. Generally, bank and other money transaction website use the protocol to protect customer information from the hacker.

HTTP and HTTPS both are used to send and receive information through using different methods. Select your protocol version according to your and your customer needs to protect the use full information from others. HTTP 1.1 is the latest version of the HTTP protocol.
